Kaveh Solhekol shares if West Brom manager Carlos Corberan favourite to be Leeds United boss

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has now reportedly emerged as the favourite to replace Jesse Marsch at Leeds United.

The Whites parted ways with the American on Monday, 6 February as they find themselves in 17th place in the Premier League.

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has discussed the possibility of him returning to Elland Road as the number one.

He said, “Another is a manager who was linked with the Everton job is Carlos Corberan. He worked as an assistant to Marcelo Bielsa so I think he would be the favourite for the job at the moment. As far as West Bromwich Albion are concerned, he has a contract with them and there’s no way that they want to lose him at such an important point of their season as well.”

Ideal style of play

Corberan is known for his attacking and possession-based style of football, which emphasises high pressing, quick ball movement, and creating chances through ball rotation.

His Huddersfield and West Brom sides have pretty much played that way and that’s precisely how Leeds have played in the Premier League.

The Spaniard puts a lot of importance on tactical discipline, both on and off the ball and encourages his players to take risks in possession in order to break down the opposition’s defence.

Corberan has been with Marcelo Bielsa at a number of clubs and his style of football closely resembles that of the Argentine’s.

The two have a strong professional relationship, and Corberan has spoken highly of Bielsa’s impact on his own coaching career.

It’ll be interesting to see if Leeds do indeed end up bringing him back to Elland Road, this time as their number one.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now preparing to sign a former Barcelona defender in the summer and have already taken decisive steps towards sealing the deal.
