Karl Darlow recognised for heroics vs Fulham as Leeds share announcement
Leeds have had their fair share of goalkeeping problems over the years.
Lucas Perri was signed in the summer as the number one at Elland Road, but has only featured in three games so far through injury.
Illan Meslier’s future seems to be away from Leeds, after being dropped by Daniel Farke at the end of last season.
Karl Darlow has once again been drafted into Farke’s line-up, debuting while Perri remains out injured.
He has yet to keep a clean sheet, but has looked solid and ahead of the Tottenham game on Saturday, has just been nominated for a Premier League Award.

Karl Darlow rewarded for spectacular effort vs Fulham
The Welshman stepped into the lineup for the first time against Fulham, but could not prevent the narrow defeat.
Darlow did pull off a spectacular save when the scores were still level, tipping Kevin’s curling effort over the bar.
That save has been nominated for the Premier League Save of the Month award for September, against the likes of Emi Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Darlow’s brilliant athleticism and reflexes were shared by Leeds on social media to show fans once more how good the save was.
Leeds fans can vote for Darlow’s save and help him win the award on the Premier League website.
Darlow deserves new Leeds contract
Leeds signed Darlow in July 2023 to a three-year deal, which expires next summer.
The Welshman will be a free agent by season’s end and can negotiate a new deal with other clubs as early as January.
- Darlow has made 18 appearances for Leeds in the last two seasons.
- He was drafted in to replace Meslier last season during the title run.
- Darlow has won eight caps for Wales.
Leeds would be smart to extend his deal beyond the summer and keep Darlow at Elland Road.
He is a more than capable back-up, who has shown he can be an asset in the Premier League and may be needed if Perri’s injury worries continue.
Darlow himself may feel like he wants to be number one elsewhere, and if he keeps performing, he may earn himself a better deal away from Leeds
