Karen Carney shares reaction as Bamford picks up injury in Leeds United v Wolves

Karen Carney was stunned as Patrick Bamford picked up an injury in the 3-2 Leeds United win over Wolves on Friday night.

The English striker was only just returning to match fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, his resurgence proved to be shortlived as he had to be withdrawn in the first half for Sam Greenwood.

Speaking on Premier League Productions’ half-time show, Carney, “That’s a big one. I’m gutted for him. You don’t want to see that given his recent injury record.”

Hope he’s back soon

Jesse Marsch allayed fears of it being a serious injury in his post-match interview.

However, initial signs can often be misleading and the manager’s prognosis could be incorrect as well.

Hopefully, some footage emerges in the coming days that shows Bamford back on the training pitch.

Until then, most Leeds fans are going to be worried as they do not want Dan James leading the line.

To the surprise of many, Marsch has not been turning to Joe Gelhardt to start games.

Given his cameos off the bench, he has certainly earned it by letting his performances talk.

If Bamford is not back, we would like to see the young Scouser leading the line with Rodrigo playing as a support striker behind him.

That said, seeing the likes of Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips was refreshing and they should be ready to start the next game.

In other Leeds United news, Steve McManaman claims that a Whites man has already lost the trust of fans and some players after what happened last week.
