Karen Carney admits to still reciving abuse after Leeds remarks in December
Karen Carney has admitted that she still receives online abuse after her famous remarks on Leeds United back in December.
The BT Sport pundit detailed the Whites’ struggles previously and how they supposedly ran out of steam because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Carney was forced off social media after Leeds demolished West Brom 5-0 at The Hawthorns towards the end of December.
Speaking via the BBC, Carney has revealed how she is still tormented online by fans as she just looks to do what she loves.
“I came off air and got in the car and remember saying to the guy who drives us home ‘it’s kicking off’ and I felt physically sick,” she said.
“I was sat the whole night, until three or four in the morning, in this daze. It was horrible. It was relentless. I can’t even describe it. People that know me know this is the job we do and choose to do it.
“I don’t want to be bombarded on social media platforms. It wasn’t for one hour, it was for three or four days and now it still comes up, people still send me abuse.”
Not needed.
Yes, Carney may have got her facts wrong about Leeds on that night, but it didn’t mean that people should have abused her online.
It went way too far and crossed the line, and the fact that it is still happening is simply a joke, it shouldn’t happen at all.
The Whites have proven the burn out claims wrong by running further every single week, and it is time to leave these claims in the past, and the abuse needs to be left, too.
Carney is a good pundit, and that has to be celebrated rather than scrutinised, and the quicker that happens, the better.
