Kalvin Phillips posts Instagram message after big injury blow in Leeds win v West Brom
Leeds United cruised to another Premier League victory on the final day, beating West Brom 3-1 at Elland Road.
It was nearly the perfect afternoon for the Whites, as fans returned and gave Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi the send-off they deserved.
Kalvin Phillips cast a shadow on that though, when he looked to have picked up a devastating shoulder injury ahead of the EUROs.
The Yorkshire Pirlo has taken to his personal Instagram account on Monday afternoon, appearing to take away some of the doubt.
“Left it a bit late to chip in with the goals but made it just in time,” he wrote.
“A season full of ups and downs but loved every second of being back in the Premier League with this team.
“Thank you Berardi and Hernandez for everything you’ve done for this club, it’s been an honour to share the pitch with you over the years. And thank you to all our amazing fans for your incredible support.”
Pirlo.
This will be music to the ears of Gareth Southgate.
If there was a major problem that could have kept him out of his first major tournament with the Three Lions, surely the early tests will have found it.
The Whites have posted a major update on his fitness, claiming that they remain confident Phillips can feature if he is selected by Southgate.
With Jordan Henderson having not played for months, he may be fit to be called up, but won’t be at 100% alongside the likes of Declan Rice.
This is where Phillips is perfect, no player completed more minutes in the latest international break, and he will want to feature against Croatia next month.
Phillips appears upbeat in this latest Instagram post, and we are crossing everything for good news with the squad selection tomorrow.
