Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie set for Leeds United medical after transfer agreement

Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie will reportedly undergo his medical at Leeds United on Sunday, 28 January after an agreement has been reached.

According to Tutto Juve journalist Mirko Di Natale, in the afternoon on 27 January while Leeds were playing against Accrington Stanley, they ended up finding an agreement with the Old Lady.

It will be an initial loan fee of £1.3million with an option which could become an obligation to buy worth £29million.

Via Twitter, Di Natale wrote, “Juventus has found an agreement with Leeds for the sale of #McKennie: A loan of 1.5 million plus the right to buy out which can become an obligation under certain conditions set at 33 million. Medical visits tomorrow with the #LUFC.”

Good news

There was a bit of anxiety when Nottingham Forest were in for his services and given how much they’ve spent in the summer, money is not a concern for them.

Either they or Arsenal could’ve given Juventus money upfront and also offered more in wages to the American, but that did not end up happening.

Now, should everything go well with his medical there’s a very good chance that he’s announced as a Leeds player in over the weekend.

He’s already spoken to the manager and the owner so it’s pretty evident that this is a move he wanted ahead of any other one.

He’s got his American counterparts at Elland Road and that’s going to be easier for him to fit into a new culture and play a different brand of football.

We’re hoping that he’s ready for the Premier League’s style of play because it’s faster and more physical than what he’s used to in Italy.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites appear to be on the cusp of another January signing as a player’s agent jets into the United Kingdom to conduct final transfer talks.
