Junior Firpo set for medical visits with Leeds next week

Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo this week.

Fabrizio Romano shared that deal is all but confirmed, with the final stages being ironed out between the two clubs this week.

The Whites are set to pay only £12.9million for the North-American born star, with Barcelona needing to raise funds immediately.

Calciomercato have now jumped in on the action, and have reported the new update in this quick-burning story.

The Italian outlet have shared that Firpo will undergo his medical with the Whites at the start of next week.

Firpo was one of the goals for AC Milan figure Paolo Maldini this window, as he looked for competition for Lucas Hernandez at the San Siro.

It has been a quiet couple of years for the left-back since his big move from Real Betis, and it didn’t take long for Marcelo Bielsa to persuade him to move to Elland Road.

Bielsa factor.

Only three years ago, we weren’t even in the Premier League and had no real chance of making it there either.

Bielsa has transformed the club, and has put us in a position when attracting players such as Firpo and Raphinha in every window is possible.

The 24-year-old only started three La Liga games last season, playing second fiddle to Jordi Alba, and he will need time to get up to speed at Thorp Arch.

Should this deal get over the line quickly. Firpo will have more than a month of training before that trip to Old Trafford on the opening day.

That could be critical, and will help him massively under Bielsa – we know how hardcore he gets in the weeks leading up to a new season; don’t say we didn’t warn you.
