Junior Firpo reacts to Leeds defeat against Tottenham
Junior Firpo returned to action for Leeds United on Sunday having been missing due to injury since the Watford win in early October.
The Spaniard came off the bench to replace Mateusz Klich with 30 minutes left on the clock, and he was unhappy with the result of the game, taking to his personal Instagram account to react afterwards.
Spurs came from a goal down to run out 2-1 winners, and despite finally tasting action after almost two months out, Firpo was not too delighted with the outcome of the game.
The 25-year-old posted: “Happy to be back with the team, but really upset with the way we lost the game yesterday.
“Now we can only focus on the next one and I’ll work very hard to be as fit as possible.”
The summer signing was around for Leeds first win of the Premier League campaign, playing a key role in the narrow victory, and he would have been looking forward to helping his side to their third win.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side had just conceded their first goal when he came on, and Spurs left it late to grab a winner that condemned the Whites to their fifth defeat of the season.
They are currently 17th in the Premier League, with a full-blown relegation battle looking like a reality after just 12 games.
Firpo spent two years at Barcelona who challenged for the title and other competitions in both seasons he spent at the Camp Nou, while he often challenged for the Europa League spots with Real Betis.
Seeing Leeds struggling towards the bottom end of the table would be new to him, and he has to adapt to this new challenge.
He has not assisted or scored since coming in as Gjanni Alioski’s replacement, and he needs to start living up to expectations.
