Journalist shares transfer update on Leeds United pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres
Leeds United are now reportedly unlikely to sign Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres despite having been linked with him all these months.
According to Give Me Sport journalist Dean Jones, the Whites have reservations over bringing the Sweden international to Elland Road.
While he admits that things may change in the future, currently it seems unlikely that they will pursue the £25million-rated forward’s services in the summer.

Jones said, “Let’s see what league they end up in because things might change, but yeah, from what I’ve heard, they do have some reservations about him being likely to join Leeds right now.”
Not needed
Gyokeres may be on a crazy run in the Championship and could’ve been interesting for the Whites in the summer had they not done any business in January.
However, they broke their transfer record on Georginio Rutter and while the Frenchman has still to get going at Elland Road, he’s likely to be their main man going forward.
Signing Gyokeres would certainly hinder Rutter’s progress and there are already young players like Willy Gnonto, Sonny Perkins and Joe Gelhardt capable of leading the line as well.

If the Whites have that kind of money to spend on a player, they will first and foremost look to prioritise Weston McKennie’s permanent signing.
Gyokeres is perhaps not going to be coming to Elland Road and even if he goes on to do well at another club there shouldn’t be too many regrets.
They made their decision to go with Rutter and now they’ve got to back the Frenchman to adapt to life in the Premier League.
In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
