Journalist shares Rio Ferdinand’s response at Old Trafford after Leeds United fans heckle him
Beren Cross has shared Rio Ferdinand’s response to Leeds United fans taunting the BT Sport pundit at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Leeds were demolished 5-1 against bitter rivals Manchester United and Ferdinand, who played for both sides during a storied playing career, was on punditry duties at the ground.
Writing on LeedsLive, Cross has detailed the ex-England defender’s reaction after Leeds supporters heckled him.

He wrote: “While the Leeds faithful were waiting, aside from singing their hearts out, they picked out a familiar face down the touchline.
“Rio Ferdinand, one of the most famous former players at both Leeds and Man Utd, was summarising for BT Sport as a part of their live broadcast at the game.
“Once they had got his attention with some particularly unsavoury language, Ferdinand removed his earpiece and gestured around all four sides of Old Trafford, underlining where his loyalties lay.”

Milking it
Ferdinand is certainly not someone who shies away from the action.
He can regularly be found engaging with supporters online or in stadiums in his role as pundit for BT Sport.
Ferdinand gets a lot of criticism from fans, mainly from those who support the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, but it’s those at Leeds who hold him in the least favourable light.
He defected to Manchester United from Elland Road in 2002 to become the most expensive British player in history at the time, and the move was not well received by Leeds fans.
His comments on BT Sport won’t help change his perception among the Whites faithful after he continually snubbed Marcelo Bielsa’s side and elected to concentrate on Manchester United.
It was another case of a big-name pundit focusing on the so-called ‘elite’ sides in the Premier League and failing to offer balance.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this Portuguese attacking sensation.
