Journalist shares if Leeds United managerial target Ange Postecoglou open to leaving Celtic

Leeds United managerial target Ange Postecoglou is reportedly not open to leaving Celtic in the middle of the season amid Elland Road links.

According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, the fact that he has Champions League football next season at Celtic Park makes that a big draw.

Leeds find themselves at the other end of the table while Postecoglou’s side are looking to challenge for their second league title in a row.

Crook said on 7 February, via the Scottish Sun, “He has certainly attracted interest from clubs in and around Leeds in the table this season.

“The vibe that I’m getting is that he doesn’t want to leave Celtic.

“It would be a step up – but as I say he has done a great job there, but he has Champions League football next season, which is a big draw.”

Move along

Leeds cannot afford to waste time trying to convince someone who does not seem keen on moving to Elland Road.

A lot of managers who’ve been doing well in Scotland have moved to mid-table Premier League clubs as it’s a better league.

Sure, Postecoglu is a seven-time league winner, but most of his championships have come in Australia and Japan and the one in Celtic was when Rangers had a low after Steven Gerrard’s departure.

The money and expectations are higher and it’s certainly the best league in the world to test your credentials as a manager.

If he does not want the job, there will be plenty of others that do and Leeds need to now start talks with all of them and see what their vision for the club is.

Marcelo Bielsa certainly impressed in his interviews at Elland Road and they should be looking for someone as thorough as the Argentine.

Bielsa managed to change the culture of the club and became this all-important figure whereas Jesse Marsch never managed to command that sort of respect.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now preparing to sign a former Barcelona defender in the summer and have already taken decisive steps towards sealing the deal.
