John Terry sends message to Kalvin Phillips on Instagram

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has left the whole nation proud after completing his first international major tournament.

The Yorkshire Pirlo started every single England game this summer, as we reached the final before cruelly missing out on penalties.

Phillips left with thousands of new fans and plaudits though, as he stunned in the heart of midfield alongside Declan Rice.

After returning home for his summer break on Monday, there was plenty to reflect on after a long couple of months.

Writing on his personal Instagram account, Phillips insisted it was an honour to perform on the biggest stage for his country.

The responses were packed with proud Leeds fans among others, including known Elland Road villain John Terry, who put aside his differences to shower praise on our main man.

Proud.

We can’t stop saying it, but there is no other feeling towards Phillips.

The Yorkshire Pirlo has done everyone proud in Leeds, Yorkshire and the country, and is getting every last plaudit he deserves.

Going into the tournament, both Phillips and Rice were put down, told they weren’t good enough to play against the best, but they shut those down quickly.

Phillips has gone from that to one of the most talked-about players in the country, and Marcelo Bielsa will have been sat at home smiling.

Seeing the likes of Terry and Frank Lampard heap praise on his game, we have to say it leaves us delighted that he finally gets that credit.

It is now time to rest though, have a couple of weeks of, and then get back into the swing of things at Thorp Arch – there is a big year ahead.
