Joe Gelhardt picks up injury in Leeds United U-23s game
Leeds United attacker Joe Gelhardt picked up an injury during their Under-23s game against Crystal Palace on Monday.
LeedsLive reporter Beren Cross was in attendance for the game and he claimed that the 19-year-old was receiving treatment in the first half of the game.
He was then withdrawn, pointing to his left thigh, but did not need any assistance walking off the pitch – which could be seen as a good sign.
In a series of tweets, Cross wrote, “Gelhardt down and receiving treatment. Coming off for Max Dean. Walking off without any assistance. Pointing to the back of his left thigh. Archie Gray, in fact. Dean had been stripped.”
Not this again
Injuries have been synonymous with Leeds’ season.
Just as it looks like everyone is getting fit and the manager will have a full squad to choose from, somebody ends up picking up an injury.
Gelhardt looks like he was knocking on Jesse Marsch’s door for a start in the Premier League.

Dan James has led the line and has been an abject failure so far.
The 19-year-old is a proper striker and would surely do a better job than the Welshman.
However, he went off in the first half with an injury scare and now it remains to be seen whether or not he will be fit for the Watford clash on April 9.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
