Joe Donnohue: Crysencio Summerville was electric vs Crystal Palace U23s

Leeds United Under-23s ace Crysencio Summerville was the star of the show as Crystal Palace were swept aside 3-1 on Monday.

Summerville, along with Sean McGurk and Liam McCarron, was among the goals for the Whites as they comfortably beat the Londoners who ended the game with ten men.

Despite a number of standout performers on the night, Leeds Live reporter Joe Donnohue was impressed by Summerville’s performance.

Via his personal Twitter account, he wrote, “The more I see of Cody Drameh and Crysencio Summerville, the more I’m exceedingly impressed by their dependability. Summerville clinical & ruthless tonight.”

In his player ratings, he further went on to say, “A typically electric 45 minute stint from Summerville which saw him score the opening goal. Blitzed past Palace players rendered helpless by the Dutchman’s speed.”

What a talent

Summerville’s enjoyed a fine run of games for our U-23s and we’re impressed by the way he’s progressed over the past few months.

Leeds United

His consistency has been immaculate and he appears to be playing with the swagger of a player in the peak of his powers.

Undoubtedly, the level of U-23 games is far inferior to what he’ll encounter when he players senior football for us, but his performances there are an indicator that he will not take too much time to adapt to the demanding nature of the Premier League.

Whether or not Marcelo Bielsa decides to give him some playing minutes this season is a different discussion to be had altogether, but from what we’ve been seeing and hearing, the Dutchman is performing at the highest level and we can’t wait for him to take the step up.

The Argentine clearly admires the attacker and has already promoted him to the Premier League bench.

Performances like this one will go a long way to make that become a regular occurrence.
