Sky Sports pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has heaped praise on Stuart Dallas’ ‘magnificent’ performances for Leeds United this season.

The Burton Albion manager was in the studio for Leeds’ game on Sunday against Manchester United.

In what proved to be a drab affair, the two historic rivals shared the spoils, with neither team quite clinical to breach the resolute defences.

Prior to kick-off, Hasselbaink was discussing Leeds United’s first season back in the top flight and picked the players he thought have made a difference for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Of them, one was the ever-present Dallas. According to LeedsLive, Hasselbaink said, “He’s been absolutely magnificent. He’s one of those that, when he doesn’t play, you miss him. You don’t really see him, but he’s so important.

“He’s done well and what he’s done, as well, is give hope to players that play in non-league and League Two. They look at him and think that you can go through the ranks and get yourself in the Premier League.”

Spot on

Dallas is undoubtedly an inspiration to anyone who plans to take up the game professionally.

The Northern Irishman started his professional career at Crusaders – an NIFL Premiership club.

Since then he moved to England and has proven himself every step of the way to reach the pinnacle of English football, playing for a club so rich in history and culture.

Speaking about Dallas’ impact on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport, former QPR defender Nedum Onuoha, who played against the Leeds ace in the Championship, praised the player’s physicality and technical prowess.

He said, “He has the physical run around and he can make the right decisions more often than not. So, even though he is doing well in that system for Leeds, as another manager, you would want players who can take on instructions.

“He has found a sweet spot in Bielsa at Leeds. He has really impressed me and played exceptionally well.”

Dallas is, in many ways, the perfect example of what a typical Bielsa player is. There’s a reason why the Argentine rates him so highly, and we as fans have already started treating him as a cult hero.

He has undoubtedly been one of our best players in the Bielsa era.
