Jesse Marsch sets timeframe for Leeds United ace Stuart Dallas after successful surgery

Jesse Marsch has revealed that key Leeds United ace Stuart Dallas’ surgery has been successful following his season-ending injury.

The Northern Ireland international suffered a femoral fracture in the Whites’ 4-0 loss against Manchester City last time out.

Having had a “successful surgery” Marsch outlined when the defender is expected to be back amongst the squad.

“He had a successful surgery,” the American told Yorkshire Evening Post.

“It was a long surgery five and a half hours but they believe that the outcome was very positive and you know they say it’ll be a long recovery, but they believe that he will have a full recovery.

“I think we can safely say it’ll be six months, but it could be longer and I don’t think anyone wants to rush him.

“I think the bone has to heal. And then they have to look at all the things like the articular cartilage and the meniscus, in which everything seems to be relatively intact.

“The ACL was intact. You know, so I’m not a doctor but a lot of the main structure of the knee is in place and then it’s just got to heal a little bit over time and see how it reacts to more and more.”

Great news.

Dallas’ injury is typical of Leeds United’s season.

They have suffered a torrid time with players’ fitness – especially to key men such as Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips and now the 31-year-old who has been a stalwart all season in the side.

It couldn’t have come at a worse time with the Whites now being dragged back into a relegation battle with four games left to play.

They have already lost in-from Adam Forshaw and now being without the most consistent player this season is a huge worry.

The players will have to pull together and finish the season strongly without Dallas and hope for a quick and full recovery for the defender. The latest news is hugely positive but he is still likely to miss a big portion of next season as the utility man works his way back to his best.

Hopefully, he will be returning to a Premier League side next season with Leeds’ fate currently out of their hands.

In other Leeds United news, Star Leeds duo will not talk to other clubs ahead of the transfer window according to a report.
