Jesse Marsch issues Leeds United injury update ahead of Aston Villa clash

Jesse Marsch has issued an injury update ahead of the Leeds United v Aston Villa clash in the Premier League on March 10.

Patrick Bamford is set to play this game but will not start, so Marsch will certainly bring him off the bench.

Diego Llorente and Adam Forshaw are both possibilities and have been ruled fit and available for selection.

Via LeedsLive, Marsch said, “Patrick will play for sure tomorrow. He won’t start but he’ll be ready from the bench. Forshaw told me he hasn’t felt this good in weeks. Diego has been in full training today.”

Leo Hjelde is also ruled out by the American, given the fact that he recently had an operation.

Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips are also both absentees for this one.

Marsch said, “Liam was in training yesterday. Kalvin is a few days behind. In my mind, I’m earmarking the international break to get him back into regular training.”

Must win

From what Marsch has said, Patrick Bamford is unlikely to start this one.

He could only be given 10 minutes against Leicester and the fact that he would’ve needed to play longer meant that the American did not want to risk him.

While he may be eligible to play for longer against Villa, it’s not advisable to start this game.

Rodrigo could lead the line for the Whites or Dan James may be given another go by the American.

Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper also appear close to returning and while they could play against Norwich, maybe the Villa game will have come too early.

This is the ideal game for Marsch to kickstart his Elland Road reign and he’ll certainly be backed by the fans even though they were not in favour of letting go of Marcelo Bielsa.
