Jesse Marsch could be set for major boost with Leeds United injury returns on ‘horizon’ – Mike McGrath

Jesse Marsch is set for a major Leeds United injury boost with news on the “horizon”, according to Mike McGrath.

The Telegraph journalist reported that Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford could be back available soon, but there was no mention of Liam Cooper.

It was all smiles at Thorp Arch as Marsch arrived, with Raphinha one of those to look extremely happy in his presence.

Writing in his column for The Telegraph, McGrath shared the injury boost coming soon at Elland Road.

“Players were later introduced to Jesse Marsch, their new manager tasked with steering them out of relegation danger,” he wrote. “The American has the advantage of a squad expected to benefit from fresh coaching ideas for the final 12 games of the season.

“Marsch could also have players returning from injury on the horizon, with the likes of Phillips and Patrick Bamford sidelined during Leeds’ descent down the table.”

On the horizon.

It is interesting to see that Cooper isn’t mentioned, but given previous updates, we can assume that he is also on the mend.

With those three coming back, that is the major boost that everyone needs in this squad at this moment in time.

Their captain, along with two England internationals who have become some of our best players – you need those available.

Without them, we have struggled, and Marsch is set to star this reign with a full squad – something we haven’t seen in months, if not years.

We need Cooper’s leadership, Phillips’ brain and Bamford’s ability to put the ball away – something that has become a real issue in recent weeks.

It’s time to take it up a notch, we’re getting desperate.
