Jermaine Beckford cheekily asks Erling Haaland if he has heard about Leeds rumour

Jermaine Beckford is keen for Erling Haaland to join Leeds United after the striker impressed in the Champions League once again.

The Borussia Dortmund front-man has made no secret of the fact he is a big Whites fan – Stuart Dallas recently revealed he asked for his shirt after an international match.

Beckford asked Haaland if he was aware of the rumours linking him to Elland Road in the summer.

“Have you heard the rumour about you joining Leeds this summer? You might as well”, Beckford said.

The ex-Leeds forward is clearly being tongue in cheek as it is very unlikely Dortmund would sell Haaland, and little chance of Leeds being able to afford him.

Haaland scored twice against Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday and now has 20 goals in 14 games in that competition.

Leeds connection

Haaland is destined to become one of the best players in the world.

He is probably already the best ever footballer born in Leeds, so it is a shame we did not snap him up at an earlier age.

While he is already at the highest level, it is possible our futures will intertwine.

We are going places under Andrea Radrizzani and if we are an established European club in future we may see Haaland at Elland Road one day.

After all, he claimed it is his dream to win the league with us, so after he’s finished dominating Germany he may want to come to the Premier League.

Hopefully, agent Beckford and others can have some influence and keep reminding him of his Leeds affiliation.

It is amusing to see currently given how unrealistic a move is, but one day things may be different.
