Jeff Stelling predicts narrow winner in Leeds United clash v Liverpool at Anfield

Jeff Stelling predicts Leeds United will suffer a narrow defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Jesse Marsch will head to Merseyside knowing that his job as Leeds manager is under threat as the Whites currently sit in the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Liverpool’s domestic form this season hasn’t been much better than Leeds’, really, but Stelling feels Jurgen Klopp’s men will grind out a 1-0 win over the Yorkshire club this weekend.

“Liverpool struggled against Nottingham Forest last weekend but I do think they will return to winning ways against a Leeds side who are without a win in eight,” said the Sky Sports Soccer Saturday host on the Super 6 website.

Tough one

The pressure is mounting on Marsch and we really don’t see him surviving past the World Cup unless he can secure at least three points in his next three games.

After Liverpool, Leeds play Bournemouth and Tottenham in the league so it’s one massive fixture sandwiched in between two very difficult ones.

We need to win the Bournemouth game.

If we don’t win that, then Marsch should be sent on his way because he’s dropped way too many points against bottom-half teams this season.

If we get anything from the Liverpool game or the Spurs game, that’s a nice bonus and the only way we think he could survive not winning over Bournemouth would be to avoid defeat in both of those.

We hope it doesn’t come to it and that Marsch does enough to keep himself in the job by getting at least four points in these next three games.

A point against either Liverpool or Spurs and a win over Bournemouth should allay the threat.

In other Leeds United news, Diego Llorente could be forced to start against Liverpool in three changes to Marsch’s line-up.
