Jeff Stelling predicts Leeds United clash v Chelsea

Jeff Stelling has backed Chelsea to beat Leeds United on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.

The Whites travel to Stamford Bridge (11th December) with major injury problems, with the likes of Kalvin Phillips out.

Stelling has predicted that it will finish 2-0 to the home side with either Romelu Lukaku or Timo Werner doing the damage.

Sharing on the Sky Sports Super 6 website, Stelling lamented the injuries causing havoc at Elland Road once again.

“Chelsea suffered their second defeat of the season at the hands of West Ham last weekend and slipped to third in the Premier League table,” he said.

“Leeds are a depleted side with Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford and Liam Cooper added to their ever-expanding injury list, so I think this is a game where Chelsea can get back on track.

“They will do this in comfortable fashion, with Timo Werner or Romelu Lukaku potentially on the scoresheet once again.”

Long afternoon?

Phillips is the big one to be missing, with the Yorkshire Pirlo simply irreplaceable in this starting XI.

The role he does is huge, and after numerous windows of not bringing someone in as cover to do a job when he is gone, this is once again going to haunt the Whites.

Just like the fans, Marcelo Bielsa must be pulling his hair out at his luck right now, as it looked as though we were getting back to full strength.

But, within a week, just like that, there were five injuries to deal with, and that is exactly the opposite of what you want looking at our fixtures.

This could be a painful afternoon.
