Jean-Kevin Augustin could reach new settlement with Leeds United as twist emerges
Jean-Kevin Augustin could eventually negotiate a lower compensation fee from Leeds United as they get set for court once again, according to Beren Cross.
The Whites have been told to pay the Frenchman £24.5million and honour their contract after they were found to have breached it during his failed loan spell.
Leeds have appealed that and will take it to the Courts of Arbitration for Sport, although Augustin is still predicted to land a “sizeable” payout from the club.

Writing in his latest Q&A for Leeds Live, Cross delved into the case and what could actually end up happening at Elland Road after yet more negative news.
“It would be helpful to read FIFA’s reasons for finding in Augustin’s favour in order to then ascertain how successful United’s appeal might be,” he wrote.
“However, the precedent set last year surely means Augustin is going to get a payout of some description. It’s just whether he wants to push it all the way to CAS and have each side’s dirty laundry aired in public.
“If Augustin doesn’t want to get into the nuts and bolts of what his spell at Elland Road was like behind the scenes, he may well negotiate a lower compensation figure with the Whites out of court. Ultimately, I think he will end up with a sizeable payout from Leeds.”

Embarrassing.
Given that CAS found in favour of RB Leipzig when the two clubs were in court over the payment, it is likely that Leeds will also lose out to the player.
With that in mind, it looks as though this failed, embarrassing move could end up costing the club up to £40million, which would be a transfer record in all.
For someone who only played 48 minutes for the Whites in three separate Championship appearances, someone has to take the fall for this and it cannot be left unpunished.
Leeds are wasting time and ultimately more money with this appeal, whoever is advising them is foolish.
Augustin has been given the nod by FIFA and their decisions are usually backed up, as we have seen before with our last dispute over this embarrassment.
The club would have been better off trying to find an amicable settlement figure lower than the £24.5million, but now they could be hit by the whole whack.
It will be interesting to see the end figure with the fans let down yet again.
