Javi Gracia could axe Brenden Aaronson for Leeds United v Brighton clash after Chelsea disappointment

Leeds United attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson did not enjoy the best of games when he took on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 4 March.

The Whites lost 1-0 and it can be argued that he was the worst player on the pitch and did very little to justify his inclusion in the side.

According to Sofascore, he just had 31 touches in the game while Illan Meslier in comparison had 42 and even completed more passes than him.

The American just managed to complete 15 passes throughout the game and was rightfully brought off by Javi Gracia in the 68th minute.

Aaronson failed to get a shot on target, provide a key pass or even complete a single cross all game.

He lost both of his attempted aerial duels and even ones on the ground, he only enjoyed a 40 per cent success rate.

These are not numbers of someone who’s looking like he wants to make things happen and prove a point to the new manager.

We will not be surprised if Gracia axes him for the clash against Brighton on 11 March and in fact, will encourage him to do that.

The Spaniard has played a 4-2-2-2 at Watford and has achieved success with it so WIlly Gnonto can come in place of Aaronson to lead the line with Georginio Rutter or Patrick Bamford.

They cannot afford to not pick up something against Brighton as well and need to treat it as a must-win clash.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
