Javi Gracia adds to confusion amid 'strange' situation at Leeds United - Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has suggested Javi Gracia sidelining Chris Armas has added to the confusion around his appointment at Leeds United.

The American was added to Jesse Marsch’s staff just before the former head coach was dismissed from his post at Elland Road.

Gracia has since confirmed (Leeds Live, 9 March) that Armas will not be part of his backroom team and the situation has left Robinson baffled.

“I just thought it was a really strange situation because if you had intentions of sacking the manager in the near future why would you allow him to bring in a coach that was close to him into such a high-level position,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“There was clearly going to be no Jesse continuation, if they were sacking him then his coaching staff weren’t going to be staying on, so why allow him to bring in such a high-profile assistant?

“It’s just a really strange situation and it just adds to the confusion.”

Armas’ whereabouts is a complete mystery but it’s clear he won’t be part of any future coaching team in West Yorkshire.

Gracia has made it abundantly clear that he is happy with his coaching set-up and that he doesn’t need any more help (Leeds Live, 9 March).

In other Leeds news, the club are set to finalise a first-team transfer this month with negotiations over a contract ongoing.
