Jamie Carragher stunned by Leeds United wonder Joe Gelhardt live on Sky Sports after assist v Brighton

Jamie Carragher was left stunned by Leeds United wonder Joe Gelhardt on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football after his brilliant assist in the 1-1 draw with Brighton.

The young forward twisted past Marc Cucurella before dinking it over Lewis Dunk and crossing for Pascal Struijk to head home the goal that could keep the Whites in the Premier League.

Carragher admitted that he has been watching Gelhardt since he was 12-years-old, and that he is a “special” talent with many years ahead of him.

Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football [16 May], as shared by Danny Jamieson on Twitter, Carragher could not believe his eyes at the talent of the forward.

“I’ve been watching [Joe Gelhardt] since he was 12 years old,” he said.

“He’s a special talent.”

Wow.

You’ve got to think that Gelhardt will play a huge role in securing any points for us against Brentford.

Leeds travel to London on the final day knowing that they may need a result to stay in the Premier League based on what happens on Thursday evening [19 May].

Everton take on Crystal Palace, with Burnley travelling to Aston Villa – with a loss for the latter meaning that Leeds will start outside of the bottom three on Sunday.

A draw or win for Burnley will mean that the Whites need to better their result to stay in the Premier League.

Gelhardt will likely start, but it will be interesting to see if Patrick Bamford is back among the squad as he was expected to be given how serious of a predicament we are in.

Rodrigo would possibly be the name to drop out if he was given how poor the Spaniard was against Brighton, but either way, Jesse Marsch may finally have options to choose from, let’s hope it doesn’t backfire.
