James Milner shares brilliant Leeds tweet
Liverpool midfielder James Milner has shared a brilliant post about Leeds United on Twitter.
The 35-year-old has enjoyed a stellar career, where he won three Premier League and one Champions League title.
He has played over 780 matches in all competitions in his career, and even at this age, he is seen as a model professional.
Milner made his senior debut for Leeds United in 2002, after breaking from the club’s youth academy.
He played two seasons at the Yorkshire club, managing 54 appearances before moving to Newcastle United.
Milner has posted a picture of himself, posing in Leeds kit, and cracked a joke that he might fit the shirt in another 19 years. He wrote on Twitter:
Back then, Milner was not happy to be leaving the club he supported as a child, but parted ways keeping in mind the best interest of the club.
The way he has taken care of his body is commendable. He is still performing at the top level and he is a true leader at the club.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t get his best years for us. In fact, he would still be a very good signing for us on a free transfer even at this age.
Milner has a contract at Liverpool till the end of the season, and there’s no indication whether he wants to sign a new deal at the club.
It would be an emotional return for him if he joins his boyhood club next summer, but chances are unlikely. We won’t be able to match his high wages, while Marcelo Bielsa may not see him as an option at all.
The best part about him is that he is such a versatile player. At Newcastle, Aston Villa and Manchester City, he used to be a pacey winger with loads of creativity.
At Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has used him as a defensive midfielder but he played as a right-back, left-back, and even in central defence as well.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has said if Raphinha is pushing to quit the club amid interest from PSG.
