Phil Hay: Raphinha not agitating for Leeds United exit amid Liverpool and PSG speculation

Raphinha is happy at Leeds United and not looking to pursue a move away from Elland Road, according to Phil Hay.

TeamTalk has reported recently that Paris Saint-Germain are interested n the 24-year-old Brazil international, who impressed Neymar in World Cup qualifying last month.

Last month, Raphinha’s agent Deco told Globo that Liverpool are interested in the winger and have made tentative approaches to sign him.

Deco added that Leeds “will want to sell him for a big sum” once his days at Elland Road reach their end but Hay doesn’t foresee Raphiha moving on any time soon.

“I don’t get any sense of Raphinha agitating to move on, I don’t get any sense of him feeling like this is doing him any harm,” said the ex-Yorkshire Evening Post journalist on the latest episode of The Phil Hay Show podcast.

“He seems to be happy here. He’s definitely thriving here, there’s no question about it.

“I’d love to see him get another few seasons out of him. I don’t feel like we will but I’d love to think there’s maybe at least one more in him.”

One more year?

Leeds have some tough decisions to make on Raphinha.

He’s clearly a wanted man and based on the way he’s played for Leeds since joining from Rennes last year, that’s not surprising in the slightest.

There’s going to be a lot of speculation. Some of it will be false but we’re sure that a lot of it will be true.

Who wouldn’t want to sign this wonderful player? He could walk into most teams in Europe based on the form he’s been in over the last year.

When you look at teams like Liverpool and PSG, he would definitely be an impact player with the view to getting into their first-team in the future but if you start to look at teams like Arsenal, Tottenham and Barcelona, you think that he could be a regular starter.

We’re not attempting to ‘sell’ Raphinha to other clubs, it’s just that he’s that good and it’s nice to talk up one of our players so much.

Leeds need to get this season done and dusted first.

If we can secure another top-half finish and show we’re capable of challenging for the European spots or domestic silverware, Raphinha may be more receptive to a new deal in West Yorkshire.

However, if we come close to relegation, we wouldn’t be shocked if this is his final season at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, this teenager is destined for a first-team call-up after what Andrea Radrizzani tweeted.
