James McAtee to Leeds United verdict dropped by Sky Sports pundit amid Pep Guardiola £25m decision
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson believes it’s unlikely for James McAtee to move to Leeds United during the summer transfer window.
The Daily Mail reported on 6 May, that Manchester City are ready to open contract talks with the £25m-rated attacker following a successful loan spell at Sheffield United.
The 20-year-old was “instrumental” in the Blades’ return to the top flight and has been praised by Pep Guardiola during the 2022/23 season (Manchester City official website, 21 April).
Despite Leeds showing interest, Robinson feels a move back to Bramall Lane would be be the most obvious choice for McAtee.
“If Leeds are in the Championship and Manchester City are looking to loan McAtee to a Premier League club, it’s no good for them,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“He’s had a really good season for Sheffield United, I’ve been really impressed with him. He’s a quality young player.
“You look at Pep Guardiola’s squad, it’s going to be difficult for him to break into that any time soon. They must think very highly of him at Sheffield United and it’s been a great experience getting promoted.
“I suspect that next season if there is an opportunity for him to go out again on loan, I would be very surprised if it’s anywhere apart from Sheffield United.”
Leeds, Sheffield United, Burnley, Leicester, Aston Villa and Bournemouth are all expressing an interest in the England under-21 midfielder. However, it’s believed McAtee is eager to stake a claim for City’s first team.
