Jack Harrison Leeds United exit now unlikely after latest Newcastle reveal
Eddie Howe is to prioritise a move for Brighton’s Leandro Trossard instead of Jack Harrison, despite the Newcastle boss liking the Leeds United winger, according to TEAMtalk.
It’s understood Brighton are set to exercise a 12-month extension in Trossard’s contract to prevent him from talking to other clubs in January (TEAMtalk, 6 December).
The Magpies’ sporting director Dan Ashworth is “desperate” to bring the Belgium international to St James’ Park and it’s understood Howe is a “huge admirer” of the Brighton man.

Despite the impending extension, the Seagulls are braced for bids, and it’s understood Newcastle are likely to prioritise Trossard over Harrison.
Put to bed
Harrison’s departure from Leeds should finally be put to bed. It’s clear Newcastle don’t see the winger as a number one target and that they aren’t going to pay the asking price which is currently on his head. From Harrison’s perspective, it’s time for him to rediscover some of the form which had the likes of Newcastle interested in the summer.
He has looked out of sorts so far in the 2022/23 season, and the World Cup break could well have come at a good time with the winger now able to get to work on the training ground without the added pressure of Premier League games week in and week out.

It’s no surprise to see Newcastle’s interest in the winger dissipate. Leeds’ asking price was never realistic for Howe and Ashworth, and considering his dip in form, the Whites’ valuation would need to be reduced somewhat.
Jesse Marsch will be desperate for Harrison to get back to his best in the second half of the season. If he can, Leeds stand a very good chance of avoiding a relegation battle at the back end of the campaign.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are aiming to get this “human wrecking ball” out of Elland Road in January.
