‘It is written’ – Matt Le Tissier & Jeff Stelling predict score in huge Leeds clash v Brentford
Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has said “it is written” that Leeds United will come away with all three points in the huge Championship clash at Griffin Park tonight.
The game against Brentford has taken on much bigger significance for Leeds after a terrible slump in form that’s seen the chasing pack disintegrate what was an 11-point buffer back to third before Christmas.
All the omens seem against Leeds tonight. Their record in London is woeful and they’ve only scored in one half of football in the last 12.
That’s shockingly bad form that’s more akin to a relegation side than one heading for automatic promotion.
However, Le Tissier thinks that Leeds will put an end to the bad run and kick-start their charge to promotion tonight.
Writing on the Sky Sports Super Six website, Le Tissier said, “Leeds’ London record is dreadful. They have not won at Brentford since the 1950s.
“It is written for Marcelo Bielsa’s side to come away with three points, and kick-start their automatic promotion hopes once more.”
He has predicted that Leeds will win 2-1.
We hope his prediction comes true, but he’s the lone voice for Leeds among the Sky Sports pundits.
Jeff Stelling, Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson all think that Brentford will win 2-1 and move ahead of Leeds in the Championship.
One big boost for Leeds is the return of Kalvin Phillips after three games out through suspension.
Leeds have really missed their midfield engine and have lost two of the three games when he’s been out.
Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that he will come straight back into the side at Griffin Park tonight.
He didn’t say who would drop out but we think it will be Gjanni Alioski, with Stuart Dallas moving into the left-back spot.
Patrick Bamford is expected to lead the line again but we’re hoping to see Jean-Kevin Augustin on the bench.
However, as we warned before the game against Forest, if he comes on it means the game isn’t going Leeds’ way.
