'Difficulties have increased' – Bielsa suggests Augustin has gone backwards ahead of Brentford

Marcelo Bielsa said that Jean-Kevin Augustin’s “difficulties have increased” in another tense press conference at Thorp Arch on Monday.

The Leeds manager seems to be getting annoyed at the constant questions over Augustin but went into another lengthy explanation of what was happening with the player.

Talking in the press conference (live in the LUFC app, Monday, 12.00pm), Bielsa said that Augustin hadn’t improved his general level of fitness.

He then went on to say his “difficulties have increased” and when quizzed again about this he added that while the player has skills, his fitness is an issue and that any process like this will have its ups and downs.

Bielsa didn’t confirm whether Augustin would be involved on Tuesday night against Brentford after making his debut for the last 20 minutes against Forest.

The new striker isn’t involved with the Under-23s today and that could mean one of two things.

Either his fitness has been exposed after the game on Saturday and he won’t be involved at all on Tuesday.

Or, he’s being saved for the Championship game – although he’s only likely to be on the bench given Bielsa’s words today.

Bielsa also accused journalists of “making jokes” about his long responses in the previous press conference and explained he was only trying to impart information.

It’s not really what the Leeds fans will have wanted to hear today and Bielsa didn’t look happy. Again.

Hopefully, things can get back on track on the pitch tomorrow.
