'Incredible' - Mirco Antenucci sends message to Leeds fans amid promotion charge

Mirco Antenucci has backed Leeds United to return to the Premier League this season under Marcelo Bielsa.

The former Whites forward, now with Bari in Italy, admitted that he still supports Leeds, as he shared his love for the Elland Road club despite leaving years ago.

Leeds dropped to second after the Championship restart, losing their first game back 2-0 against Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon.

Antenucci wasn’t disrupted by that result, claiming that he hopes they can still seal promotion with eight games left to play.

“I love that club,” he told TuttoBari.

“I was lucky to have an experience in such a club. It’s incredible. I cheer them on. They are second, I hope they’ll go to the Premier League.”

The Italian may be a forgotten figure in West Yorkshire, but he was certainly one of the shining lights from the dark era of Massimo Cellino.

Antenucci scored 19 goals in his two years at the club and scored some memorable goals, we remember a couple against Huddersfield that made him somewhat of a hero – looks like he would take that.

Leeds definitely have a massive chance of promotion to the Premier League, and despite defeat on Sunday, they ticked off another game while maintaining their seven-point gap to third-placed Fulham.

Prediction expert Nate Silver has claimed that the Whites still have a 97% chance of earning automatic promotion, with a 70% of finishing as champions, odds that we will certainly take [FiveThirtyEight].

Poor result or not against Fulham, Leeds have favourable games against the bottom three at home still to play and that should hopefully be a guaranteed nine points – fingers crossed.
