Ilias Akhomach on his way to Leeds United, new transfer is close
Ilias Akhomach is on his way to Leeds United with the Barcelona youngster set to snub a new deal with the Catalan giants, according to Sport.
LUFCFANZONE claimed (16 March) the Whites are “very confident” of agreeing a four-year deal with the Spanish winger when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
Spanish news outlet Sport now report that “everything indicates” the highly sought-after attacker is on his way to the Yorkshire side.
“Ilias Akhomach has not renewed his contract and everything indicates that he will go to English club Leeds United,” they wrote (17 March).
Promising
This is a really promising piece of business from the board and it follows a clear direction which has previously been set. Victor Orta has been keen to add to Leeds’ growing pool of youth prospects. Sonny Perkins, Mateo Joseph, Darko Gyabi and Sam Greenwood have all been poached from other clubs.

It’s a tactic that seems to be working and Akhomach could be the latest in a long line of success stories if he does make the move to England. Taking advantage of contract wrangling is working in the board’s favour and could stand Leeds in good stead.
However, considering the club’s perilous league position, Gracia will more than likely refrain from giving his youngsters consistent league starts during the run-in. Sticking with experienced players is a must for the Spaniard as he tries to drag Leeds out of the relegation zone.
If survival can be secured, the exciting youth prospects at Elland Road could stand Leeds in good stead heading into the start of the 2023/24 season.
In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
