The Athletic’s Phil Hay has provided his popinion on whether Leeds United will make a move for Brighton’s Ben White.
The defender enjoyed a loan spell at Elland Road last season, helping the Whites to promotion by not missing a minute of league action.
He remains popular amongst the fanbase as a result, and that led one supporter to ask Hay if he thinks a summer move may be on the cards.
In response, the journalist replied in his Q&A session, “I’d say unlikely, purely because of the number of centre-backs Leeds have. I’d expect them to channel their money into other areas.”
White was said by TeamTalk editor James Marshment to be valued at £50m, although that might have dipped after not shining for Brighton so far this season.
Just reading that Brighton (allegedly) now value Ben White at £50m in the face of renewed interest from Liverpool.
Not religious but…. this is the football equivalent of turning water into wine. A relative nobody into a £50m player in just 12 months….

Strengthening the defence
Leeds were keen on bringing White back to the club in the summer but instead made alternative plans once it became clear that the 23-year-old was to remain at Brighton.
Marcelo Bielsa then addressed his defensive concern by signing two big-money players, Robin Koch and Diego Llorente.
Unfortunately, the pair have managed just 12 league games between them due to injury, however, and if things don’t change Bielsa could be minded to go back in for White in the summer.
Added to that, the defence is arguably our biggest area of weakness considering the 33 goals conceded so far.
By comparison, 30 goals in 17 league games indicate that the attack is playing its part, so it is a little difficult to see the likes of Patrick Bamford and Raphinha – amongst others – losing their place in the side.
There is room for another wide option due to Helder Costa’s dip in form, but other than that recruitment may concentrate on defensive reinforcements, which could mean the £19.8million valued White is targeted once again by Bielsa.
