Ian Wright devastated after what happened to Leeds United star Patrick Bamford

Ian Wright claims he was devastated after what happened to Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford.

The England international appeared to be back to full fitness and was in contention to start for the Whites after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, he picked up another injury and is now likely to be out until the end of the season.

Speaking on Wrighty’s House podcast, Wright said, “They [medical staff] try to hold you back so that you don’t break down unfortunately like how we’ve seen with Patrick Bamford when your team’s under pressure and you’re needed.

“Fans are constantly telling you to get back. I cannot even try to get into the headspace of the kind of pressure that guy’s under.

“I’m devastated for Patrick and I hope that it doesn’t happen with Kalvin.”

Huge blow

Leeds have struggled in front of goal all season and it’s down to the fact that Bamford has not been available.

In his absence, Dan James has been deployed as a nine while Joe Gelhardt has only been used sparingly.

Rodrigo, despite being signed as a centre forward has been used in most attacking positions bar that one.

Thus, it comes as no surprise that Leeds have struggled to find the back of the net.

When Bamford returned, there was some hope that he would fire a few goals and guide Leeds to safety.

However, we would now be lucky if we even see him on the pitch before the end of the season.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
