'I watched the whole game' – John Motson delivers surprise Leeds verdict after 3-0 loss v Spurs

Football legend John Motson has heaped praise on Leeds United despite a 3-0 defeat against Tottenham on Saturday.

The former commentator was asked his thoughts about the Spurs v Leeds game on talkSPORT and despite Tottenham comfortably, Motty praised the Whites for how they played the game.

Talking on the Hawksbee & Jacobs show (talkSPORT, Monday, 3pm) Motson said, “I saw the whole game on TV and although they were three down Leeds played some great football all the way to the final whistle.

“Bielsa just won’t play any other way. They’re great for the neutral. Everyone loves watching Leeds play.”

Tottenham broke from their normally defensive ranks and pressed Leeds, scoring three goals in the Premier League for the first time since October.

However, Motty had eyes only for Leeds, although he did mention how clinical Son and Harry Kane were.

That was the only real difference on the day, with Leeds dominating for the first 15-20 minutes.

In that period, Patrick Bamford missed a good chance with his head that could have had a big impact on the game.

Tottenham’s first goal came from a mistake from Illan Meslier and a dubious penalty decision.

It’s fine margins in the Premier League, but if Leeds could cut out the mistakes and get more clinical, the jump up to the top six won’t seem quite as big.
