'Why I had to leave' - Pontus Jansson sends message to Leeds ace after Burnley win

Pontus Jansson has shared a message with Leeds United defender Luke Ayling after the 1-0 win against Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

Ayling captained the Whites at Elland Road and continued in his central defence role during the absence of Liam Cooper in the Premier League.

Patrick Bamford opened the scoring with a penalty in the first five minutes, a lead that Marcelo Bielsa’s men protected for the entire game.

Jansson took to Ayling’s personal Instagram account on Monday, sending a message to his former teammate joking about his departure from Elland Road.

“Understand why I had to leave when the right-back is a better centre-back than me,” he wrote in the comments. “Love it, bro.”

Ayling had struggled against the likes of Manchester United but was back to his best against Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

After a week of outsiders claiming that Bielsa doesn’t change his system, El Loco switched to a three-at-the-back and dominated one of the most physical teams in the league.

The 29-year-old was phenomenal with the academy product, Pascal Struijk alongside him and Kalvin Phillips dropping deeper from midfield.

Ayling was everywhere. The defender made one tackle, three interceptions and five clearances according to WhoScored, winning his battles against the likes of Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes.

With Diego Llorente ruled out again for the West Brom, Ayling will be tasked with sitting in the heart of the defence, and we have no problem with that after his battling display against Burnley.
