‘Don’t think he plays’ – Blow as Phil Hay claims star likely out v Blackburn despite Whites hope
Leeds United are likely to be missing Stuart Dallas for the game against Blackburn this afternoon.
Dallas picked up a muscle problem in the game against Luton on Tuesday and could now miss his first game of the season.
There was hope for Leeds on Thursday when Kalvin Phillips said that both Dallas and Liam Cooper could be fit to start on Saturday.
However, it looks like Cooper will make it and Dallas will miss out.
Talking on the Phil Hay Show podcast on Friday Hay said, “I think Cooper will play. Clearly, there’s a slight concern there.
“You could certainly do without Stuart Dallas pulling a hamstring… I don’t think he will play. There are just little issues that are not making it easy for Leeds, that are disrupting the flow. They haven’t put together a full 90 minutes yet.”
Gjanni Cam
Dallas will be a big miss for Leeds. He’s starred for Bielsa out on the left this season and hasn’t missed a game.
However it could be worse – it’s one area where Leeds have a couple of senior options.
The most likely starter, if Dallas is ruled out, is Gjanni Alioski. He looked brilliant when he came on as a sub in the game against Fulham and was one of the few bright sparks in the Luton game.
He scored against Fulham and set up the vital equalising goal for Dallas against Luton.
The other option is Barry Douglas. He’s the club’s recognised left-back but he’s only made 12 appearances this season, with just four starts.
If Bielsa wants a more defensive-minded left-back then Douglas would be the choice. However, Alioski has looked a much bigger threat and we hope he gets his first start since February.
The game kicks off at Ewood Park at 3pm, with team news at 2pm.
