‘Great move for him’ – Exclusive: £20k/wk Leeds ace backed for move to top Ch’ship club in Jan
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United
Paul Robinson has said that a loan move to a “top Championship club” would be a great move for Adam Forshaw in January.
The midfielder – on a reported £20k-a-week at Leeds – hasn’t played since early last season after suffering a hip injury that eventually required surgery.
A comeback pencilled in for August didn’t materialise and Football Insider have now reported that he will be made available for loan in January when he gets back to full fitness.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “It would just be great to see him fit again and play some games.
“It’s been so long with such a difficult injury to manage.
“He’s come back a couple of times and broken down a couple of times.
“I’m sure he’d love to play some football instead of enduring a bit-part at Leeds for the second half of the season.
“If it was a case of 15 minutes here and there for Leeds I think he’d much better off going on loan.
“I think a loan move to a top Championship club would be a great move for him in January.”
The plan would be for Forshaw to get some regular game-time under his belt and then come back to Leeds to fight for a first-team place.
Some fans are starting to lose patience with him but Forshaw was playing some of the best football of his career for Leeds just before he was injured.
We’d love to see him fully fit and able to make a comeback in the 21/22 pre-season.
