Graham Smyth shares how long Leeds United deal with Adidas set to last

Leeds United and Adidas’ new kit sponsorship extension is a “multi-year deal”, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist posted an update on X (30 October) after the Whites announced an extension to the partnership they’ve held with Adidas since 2020, but failed to specify the length of the deal.

Smyth pointed out that partnering with the German sportswear giants is “very beneficial” for the Whites, and added that Adidas and the club’s relationship is set to continue for the foreseeable future.

He said: “For those asking, it’s a ‘multi-year deal’.”

Adidas invested in Leeds United for the long haul

When Adidas came on board at Elland Road in 2020, the Whites were riding the crest of a Marcelo Bielsa-inspired wave having won the Championship and earned promotion at a canter.

Finishing ninth at the end of their first Premier League season in 16 years likely left Adidas feeling as if they’d hit the jackpot, investing in a club on the up at exactly the right time.

The downward spiral which followed those lofty heights though – which United are arguably still in despite their revival under Daniel Farke – has not softened Adidas’ want to remain involved in LS11.

If anything, their influence and commercial interest has grown, producing a yellow away kit which quickly became record-breakingly popular with fans, as well bringing the club into their Adidas Originals range.

The 49ers Enterprises have plans for huge redevelopments at Elland Road if and when the Peacocks do return to the top flight, and Adidas are clearly keen to play a major part in the new-look Leeds United.
