Leeds United have announced an extension to their partnership with kit manufacturers Adidas after record-breaking success this season.

The Whites posted on X (30 October) to confirm that Adidas, who have been on board at Elland Road since their first Premier League arrival in 2020/21, will continue to produce their playing and training kits.

United's yellow away kit, featuring the 1970's smiley badge, broke records for selling 15,000 shirts in the first 24 hours, and club executives hinted further collaborations with Adidas' various ranges could follow.

In a statement on the club's website (30 October), Chief Operating Officer Morrie Eisenberg said: “The brand is one of the most recognisable names in sport.

"We have really enjoyed working alongside them on not only kit designs and launches, but also limited-edition ranges such as Originals and the recently released Spezials range.”

Leeds United and Adidas have Premier League ambitions

The Peacocks hitching up with Adidas - worth £33billion [Forbes] - to coincide with their long-awaited Premier League return in 2020 is no accident, and the partnership's continuation is a sign of where both club and kit giant want to be.

Failure to return to the top-flight at the first time of asking after their relegation in 2023 could have seen the deal come to an end, but Adidas clearly recognise the sheer scale of English football's sleeping giant.

That was reflected in the record-breaking sales of this season's away kit, as well as Red Bull coming on board at Elland Road to secure a minor ownership stake and another record-breaking sponsorship deal.

Few fans will complain at one of football's most recognisable brands staying put to produce kits of similar popularity to this year's yellow shirt, despite no end date being mentioned in the club statement.

Getting back to the top-flight remains the ultimate goal for everyone involved at Elland Road, and if the Whites can establish themselves in the Premier League, Adidas will certainly be along for the ride.
