Graham Potter: Leeds ace Dan James will get better and better
Leeds United star Dan James is full of potential, says Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter.
The Whites travel to the Amex Stadium on Saturday, with James aiming to build on his goal against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
Potter knows the Welsh international well, having managed him at Swansea City in the 2018-19 season.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League fixture, the Seagulls boss has tipped James to succeed at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa.
“The one thing I know about Dan is he is an honest guy,” Potter said [via SussexLive].
“He’ll try his absolute best and Marcelo and his staff will help him to understand what he needs to do to fit in their team.
“The longer he is there, the better he will get.”
James is improving by the game in a Leeds shirt following his summer move from Manchester United.
It took a while for the 24-year-old to get going at Elland Road, struggling for form on the wing as the Whites as a team also endured a tough start to the campaign.
However he has moved into a more central role in recent matches and come into his own, becoming a key part of Bielsa’s attacking arsenal.
Scoring his first goal for the club against Spurs last weekend should give James a huge confidence boost, following his first assist against Norwich City before the international break.
After being a bit-part player at Manchester United last season, the Welsh international will be relishing the opportunity to be a regular starter.
With Patrick Bamford out through injury, there has been more pressure on Leeds’s other players to contribute in the final third and James will hope he can now go on a hot streak.
