Georginio Rutter skips training amid Leeds United transfer talks, three new signings lined up by Victor Orta
Leeds United are reportedly in talks with Hoffenheim to sign Georginio Rutter in a deal worth £26m, and the Whites are further looking at two more signings in January.
According to a report from The Mail on Sunday (8 January, page 105), the 20-year-old striker has skipped a practice match amid ongoing negotiations.
The Whites have been scouring the market to bolster their forward line after missing out on Coady Gakpo and Bamba Dieng, and it looks like Rutter, who joined Hoffenheim from Rennes in 2021 for a fee of £700,0000, is set to become the Whites’ second signing of the January window.
Leeds have already secured the signing of Max Wober from RB Salzburg earlier this month, and they are keen to land Birmingham City’s George Hall among others.
It is really encouraging to see that Leeds are doing their business early, and hopefully, they can wrap up the deal for Rutter within the next week.
The club needed to sign a left-back this month, and Victor Orta has been able to secure one.
Now they are about to end their search for a striker, as it appears that the deal for Rutter is close after personal terms being agreed [Fabrizio Romano, 8 January].
He is not a prolific striker and his two goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances don’t boost confidence among the fans either. But he works extremely hard and brings energy to the frontline.
Rutter is a young striker who has got plenty of room for improvement, but Leeds must have made a thorough background check on him as they are willing to pay a big sum for his signature.
The talent is definitely there and he can grow into a fantastic player under the tutelage of Marsch. It looks like he will be the club’s next major signing this month.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this in-form Eredivise player who’d cost over £15million.
