Gary Lineker sends message to Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch after appointment

Gary Lineker has delivered a message to new Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch after he replaced Marcelo Bielsa.

The popular Match of the Day host insisted that the American will be “Adored” at Elland Road should he bring success.

Marsch addressed the so-called stigma against American coaches in the Premier League when sitting down to face the media today.

Writing on his personal Twitter account on Thursday evening, Lineker sent a message to the American ahead of his first game in charge.

“We have many foreign coaches in this country,” he wrote.

“If they’re successful they’ll be adored wherever they come from. Wish him well.”

Adored.

Keep Leeds in the Premier League, and Marsch will be well on his way to becoming an icon in his own right.

He will be nowhere near what Bielsa achieved, but Leeds fans are more passionate than any other, and they will get behind him 100%.

Marsch knows what he needs to do, and we have to admit, he impressed us during his first media outing this afternoon.

It is about doing the business on the pitch, though, and should we get this season out of the way and stay in the top flight, all eyes will then move to next season.

Andrea Radrizzani will have more questions to answer than Marsch if this goes wrong, but we’re confident we can take steps in the right direction sooner rather than later.
