Gary Lineker reacts as Leeds United part of Boxing Day postponements

Leeds United are one of the latest bunch of Premier League sides to have games postponed this weekend.

The Whites’ trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool was the first to fall, with Watford against Wolves also biting the dust after COVID breakouts.

Everton’s clash with Burnley has fallen today, and Gary Lineker has reacted to the trend as the postponement crisis continues.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Lineker reacted as he joked three had fallen and many more could follow suit.

“Three down, five Boxing Day fixtures still standing,” he wrote.

“For now.”

Leeds kickstart crisis.

COVID and the Omicron variant is starting to really take their toll on the Premier League, and it is only getting worst.

The Whites were one of the only teams to play their games last weekend, despite having illness in their camp and numerous injuries.

An outbreak has forced Thorp Arch to be closed and the Liverpool game to fall, the first to go ahead of the festive fixtures.

Lineker is right to say “for now” and it is bound to get even worst with more games likely to fall in the next couple of days.

The game against Aston Villa two days later on the 28th is under serious threat too, and it looks as though Leeds will kickstart the next batch of postponements too.

Turning down the chance for a week break appears to be backfiring, and it may be brought into discussions again soon if this continues.
