Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Kalvin Phillips open to Leeds United exit amid Aston Villa interest
Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that Kalvin Phillips would fancy leaving Leeds United for Aston Villa this summer.
He does not see the England international leaving for Manchester United but Villa Park could be an ideal destination for him.
The Birmingham outfit are owned by two billionaires and Agbonlahor thinks Phillips is certainly affordable.
He said on talkSPORT, “I don’t think Kalvin Phillips will do that, being a Leeds fan himself. I don’t think he’ll go to Manchester United.
“I’m hearing that maybe Aston Villa are in for Kalvin Phillips. I think that’ll be a better choice for him.
“Our owners are one of the richest in the Premier League.
“So I’m sure that Kalvin Phillips would love to come from Leeds to Birmingham.”
Why on earth would Phillips want to leave Leeds for a club like Villa who are also in the bottom half?
The 26-year-old loves the club, Yorkshire and Elland Road and will only leave if it’s really a great move for him.
Agbonlahor is right in the fact that he will not move to Old Trafford.
There’s too much bad blood between the two clubs and he’s probably grown up hating the Red Devils.
However, Villa do not even play in the Champions League or even in Europe.
Maybe if Liverpool or Manchester City come in with a significant offer and Leeds are willing to accept their bid then Phillips could look to leave.
However, any move this summer seems very unlikely.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
