Gabby Agbonlahor thrilled by Jeff Stelling’s ‘amazing’ Kemar Roofe reveal
Gabby Agbonlahor was delighted to learn that former Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe made his debut for Walsall on Saturday.
The 32-year-old has joined the League Two outfit on a short-term deal until January and came on as a second-half substitute in their 2-0 loss to Colchester United at home on 15 November.
Roofe was a key player for Marcelo Bielsa at the Whites, scoring in the play-offs semi-final against Derby County in the 1-0 win before they eventually lost 4-2 at home in the second leg.
Now, it’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin leading the line at Elland Road, but fans in LS11 still have a lasting memory of the Jamaica international’s time in West Yorkshire.
Kemar Roofe has had interesting career since leaving Leeds United
Jeff Stelling revealed that Roofe last scored a goal in England for Leeds in the play-offs semi-final in the 2018-19 season.
However, since then, the striker has mostly played in Belgium and Scotland with Anderlecht and Rangers, respectively, with a short stint at Derby last season.
The Jamaican forward hardly played at Pride Park after his move in February as a free agent, playing a handful of minutes in the Championship due to fitness issues.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 17 November, Stelling said, “He made his debut for Walsall at the weekend,” to which Agbonlahor responded, “Did he? Amazing.”
Stelling added, “He hasn’t scored a goal in England since the play-offs semi-final for Leeds against Derby in 2019.”
Fitness issues marred Roofe’s time at the Peacocks, and Farke will have to be careful with Calvert-Lewin’s injury concerns, considering his record at Everton.
Daniel Farke to have Kemar Roofe demand at Elland Road
Piroe could potentially leave Leeds in January after falling down the pecking order this season.
The Dutch forward has hardly played for the Whites in the Premier League, and he may push for regular game time away from Elland Road.
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Championship | 32 | 14 | 2 |
As a result, Farke possibly should ask for attacking reinforcements, and the addition of a number nine like Roofe, who was reliable up front, will certainly be welcomed in the winter transfer window.
Fans in LS11 will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on how the Jamaica international fares at Walsall after his injury-plagued seasons.
