Gabby Agbonlahor takes dig at Leeds United in cheeky Christmas message
Gabriel Agbonlahor took a dig at Leeds United in his Christmas message on social media.
The player-turned-pundit took to X to wish his followers a happy Christmas, but took the opportunity to poke fun at the Whites, as well as Manchester United and Birmingham City.
Agbonlahor, who is doubtful of Leeds’ promotion chances this season, swore his allegiance to Aston Villa by posting a purple heart emoji and also added face exhaling emoji in what was a sarcastic message.
“Happy Christmas to everyone, even Manchester United, Leeds United and Birmingham City fans”, he wrote (25 December).
Former Aston Villa captain Agbonlahor pokes fun at Leeds United fans
Aston Villa and Leeds United do not have a historic rivalry, but there is distaste between them in recent years, particularly after the controversial 1-1 draw at Elland Road in April 2019.
Tensions boiled over after Mateusz Klich scored for the Whites after the Villa players stopped playing.
Although the hosts allowed Albert Adomah to score into an open goal upon Marcelo Bielsa’s order, there has since been resentment between the two clubs.
Pontus Jansson attempting to deny Adomah’s goal despite Bielsa’s instructions and everything that happened during the five-minute gap between the two goals make it a memorable encounter.

Some fans do not take the so-called rivalry seriously, considering they are from two different parts of England, but Agbonlahor certainly does.
Meanwhile, it may not be long before Leeds and Aston Villa do business with each other, with Daniel Farke’s side targeting a move for Louie Barry in the January transfer window [TEAMtalk].
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are eyeing a loan-to-buy deal for a player also wanted by this Premier League side.
