Gabby Agbonlahor asks Leeds United question after 2-1 loss v Tottenham Hotspur

Leeds United suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham on Sunday, with just two points and a place now between them and the drop zone.

Gabby Agbonlahor has reacted the result, taking to his personal Instagram account after the game to pose a question of the Elland Road outfit.

The former Aston Villa striker is as big a Leeds antagonist as they come, and he has suggested that a return to the Championship could be on the cards for Marcelo Bielsa’s side after what he saw against Spurs.

He said: “What seems to be the problem with Leeds?

“So long to get back to the Premier League and look like they are heading back to the champ?

“Can someone explain?”

Time to get worried?

The defeat at North London was their fifth of the Premier League campaign, and with a third of the season now gone, the Whites need to improve massively going forward if they do not want to be fighting relegation for the majority of the campaign.

They have only won twice, and while injuries have prevented them from matching the results of last term, that would not be an excuse should they fail to stay up.

Despite their quality, Leeds clearly lack squad depth, and they simply have to make major additions to their team in the January transfer window if they want to improve results.

They have a tough run of fixtures heading into 2022, and failure to pick up needed points could be disastrous.

Leeds travel to Brighton next weekend before games against Crystal Palace, Brentford, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

The players need to start performing better and delivering, and slipping into the relegation zone is the last thing they want right now.

In other Leeds United news, a major update on Whites January bid to sign attacker has been provided, with pen-to-paper imminent.
