Fred hopes Leeds star Raphinha misses out v Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Fred has insisted that he wants Leeds United star Raphinha to be injured for the clash on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilian hasn’t trained since the 2-1 win over Manchester City after he was clattered by Fernandinho in the dying moments at the Etihad.

After missing the draw with Liverpool, Fred has claimed that the “amazing” winger missing would hand the away side a better chance of victory at Elland Road.

Speaking in an official club website interview, Fred shared that his fellow Brazilian has been showered in praise on the Carrington Training Ground.

“Bruno’s been talking about Raphinha ever since he arrived,” he said. “They played together at Sporting.

“He’s a great player having an amazing season and a lot of clubs have their eye on him. I met him recently, a great guy, an excellent player but, I hope he won’t be lining up against us.

“I wish him a quick recovery and a lot of success in his career. He’s a stand-out star player for Leeds so, of course, it’s better for us if he’s not on the pitch.”

Wish come true?

It isn’t looking great for Raphinha this weekend.

The Brazilian hasn’t trained and has posted a cryptic message on his personal Instagram account this week alongside a picture in London.

Raphinha has clearly been a superstar at Elland Road since arriving for a bargain figure from Rennes, and this will be a huge miss for the Whites.

The 24-year-old has six goals and the same number as assists and even has the highest WhoScored average match rating in the entire squad.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men proved they can perform against Liverpool, so if Fred thinks this will make it that much easier, he has another thing coming at Elland Road.
